How grading works

Once the game is played, every pick you made gets a score out of 100 and a letter grade. Here is where those points come from.

Accuracyup to 85 pts

How close each stat you predicted came to what happened.

Boldnessup to 15 pts

A bonus for moving off our projection and being right.

The rules

  1. 1

Every stat is scored on its own.

Each stat you predict carries its own slice of the 85 accuracy points, sized by how many fantasy points usually ride on it. Misses never cancel out: a wrong rushing number is still wrong even if the player’s fantasy total happened to land.
  2. 2

    Close is measured in pars.

Par is a normal miss for that stat: how far a season-average forecast usually lands from what really happens. Get it exactly right and you keep the whole slice. One par off keeps half. Two pars off keeps almost nothing.Example: par for a QB’s passing yards is 60 yds. Predict 230 yds and the real number is 290 yds: you were one par off, so you keep half of what that stat is worth.
  3. 3

Beat our projection for a bonus.

Every slider starts on our projection, the house line. Move it, finish closer to the real number than the house did, and you earn boldness points: the bigger the improvement, the bigger the bonus, up to the full amount once you beat the house by 1 par. Being bold and wrong costs nothing beyond the accuracy you lose. Leave a slider where it started and it earns no bonus, so copying the house on everything tops out at 85.
  4. 4

    No game, no grade.

If a player is inactive and posts no box score, the pick is void and doesn’t count for or against you.
